Sharing and Exporting

The Model Browser is used for organizing, sharing, and managing Modelshop models.

Renaming Models

You can rename your model from the Modelshop homescreen by hovering over the model and clicking the dropdown menu button.

Sharing Models

Sharing an entire model with another user can be easily achieved from the Model Browser. Simply select “Share Model” from the dropdown menu of the model you would like to share and search for the user to be shared with.

Alternatively, or if more fine-tuned control over how models are shared is required, sharing can be managed from inside the model as well. To do so, open the model to be shared and select “Share Model” from the “Manage” menu. Upon adding new shares, several options are available.

  • Level:

    • User: Share directly with another Modelshop user. Once established the user will be alerted via email that a model has been shared with them and see the model listed in their model browser.

    • Group: Share a model across a group of users. Groups can be created and maintained by a server administrator. Once created, sharing with a group will establish a share with each user in that group. Users can belong to more than one group.

    • Organization: Share broadly across the entire organization. Each user belongs to a single organization, for example the company they work for.

    • Public: Share a model to require no user authentication, enabling users to publish and disseminate models to users without Modelshop user accounts.

    • Plugin: Allow models to be installed as modular plugins to other models.

    • Private: The resource will not be shared.

  • Access: Several options exist pertaining to how a shared user can interact with a model.

    • Edit: Full control to change model configuration (such as calculations or rules) and data.

    • Read: Can see results of the model but cannot change configuration or data.

    • Write: Ability to change data in the model, but not configuration.

In the event even more control is required certain elements in the model can be shared as well. Similar to model level shares detailed above, it is possible to apply element level share controls that supersede the model level controls. This means they can be used in conjunction with model level shares to achieve specific access schemes. To do so:

  • Select the item you would like to share or restrict (ex. Rulebase, View, or Datalist).

  • Enter “Edit Mode” by selecting “Edit” in the top left corner of the screen.

  • Add share controls per the options listed above.
